We are deciding whether to move to Beacon or not and our main concern are the public schools. We know from recent history that the schools and the town have left much to be desired but we also know there is a change occurring. We would like to hear from actual parents who live and are raising children in Beacon. We would love to hear accounts from actual experience. We don't expect the best from the schools but we would love to be active participants in the change if it is for real.
Also, we understand from the data of such websites as schoolmatters.org and greatschools.net that Sargent elementary is really struggling and that Rombout Middle School seems an academic mess but the data also shows that Forrestal, Glenham and even South are good elementary schools and that Beacon High School is not terrible. We visited the campus' of Rombout and BHS and didn't notice anything particularly unruly or seedy or anything like that. In fact, they seemed well-kept and full of school spirit. Can anyone who really knows give us a clue? We want to talk to school administrators at some point but would like someone to either save us the trip or to give us some hope. Thanks everyone!!!
