I have an idea but I am not saying. It seems logical..We don't want everyone running there.
Actually, I wish I knew the next place..it would be good to find..

Cool where to go

We are looking to move and it is a really hard decision where to go. We have been looking at upstate NY and Providence RI (we know that taxes are high, but the housing prices are very reasonable). We have looked into the south (too hot and humid), the southwest (too hot) for the most part. Denver and Portland Oregon both seem to be decent places, but they are both fairly expensive. Florida has the same problem as California, overpriced and overpopulated (and overrun with illegals).

We currently live in San Francisco and love it here, and we would not consider moving except for the rediculous housing costs.

Everyday there is a fatal accident. Drive By shooting happen daily.

And like i said raising a family here is a real bad idea, ok lets say you skip the public schools and go private, if you can afford to great. But, still your children will be raised in a casino/gambling city. We live in Henderson ( a suburb of Vegas ) and you will find slot machines everywhere, so the kids see that crap, and that attracts the bums. Our local grocery stores have slot machines, 7-11, Target, Walmart, K-mart and so on.

Plus the homes are no longer all that affordable. For a 4 bed 2 bath no basement your looking around $380,000 in a good area, again all those problems i mentioned happen all over Vegas/Henderson.

We are moving within a year, just have to finish researching where to move next! Maybe Raleigh NC , would go back to LI , but the cost of living there is a joke! PA is also an option.

PM me for more info.

Good luck
Ha, ha! When I was there a few years ago, the newspaper had a story about a new mayor who just suggested, mind you, that there might be some
restrictions on where you can put a slot machine. From the hullabaloo that erupted, you would think that she had questioned the divinity of Christ. Apparently, the idea of any restriction on legalized vice is heresy there.

Although the buzz is Las Vegas for the westerners and North Carolina for the easterners there is a lot of people looking at Montana, Wyoming and the midwest. Houses/land is VERY inexpensive.

Default Colorado

I live in Fort Collins Colorado- I'm telling ya if so many people weren't moving here and my family wan'ts planted in NY - I'd be here for good. Everything is still pretty cheap, there are mountains, the weather is incredible with four seasons to boot. We get the best weather in Colorado most of the storms miss us. The only problems is things dry out alot. Downtown is just too cute and the people are pretty friendly. Boulder, Golden & Denver don't suck either....

I did not mean that TN/NC was not cheap in my last post though when I reread it that is how it can be interpreted - sorry! I just meant that not all of New England has Southern NYS prices..

I personally would not uproot my family to move to either place unless it was a last ditched effort at not going belly up.

Hmmmm, seeing that the largest demographics right now are retiring/soon to be retiring baby boomers who want to have it all, I can only guess that the southern states will continue absorb most of the uprooters.........personally, we're looking at Roanoke VA in 4 years and I think our reasoning is the same for most: we raised our kids in NY which hands down has one of the best educational systems and now we want to enjoy nice weather, lower taxes, gas prices the like.....not unlike FL for the previous generations it's just that we're such a large group that it'll take more than one state to please us.....

We relocated to Raleigh NC about a year ago from LI and we love it. Raleigh is a great Southern city to migrate to because there are high tech jobs in the RTP and a city (small in comparison to NYC) that you can afford to live in. There is plenty of affordable housing in nice areas and everyone is from somewhere else. I am a realtor in this area and I mainly work with people migrating from the Northeast, Midwest, Florida, California, and Vegas. Each area has their reasons for the demographic shift to the Carolinas but everyone generally agrees it's a good place to settle down, raise a family. Some culture, the ocean is 2 hrs away and the mountains/even skiing is only 3 hours away. I always send out relocation kits to people interested in this area and it really helps them. I can send one to you free of charge, just pm me. I would also recommend calling local realtors in every area that you have an interest in and have them send something similiar. A good relo kit should include area guides, facts, information, maps, magazines along with apartments and real estate information. Good luck!
