Areas tend to change. I dont even look to far ahead when it comes to where my kids are going to high school..because Arlingtons school could change for the worse....you just never know and cannot project out that far. But for resale values it does help.

Your so right Mom2gurls. I have 3 kids-9, 15, and 17. They have all gone to the schools I went to. They have changed-and not for the better. If I could have they would never had gone to any school in the Wappingers School District. I am stuck here at least til the older two finish high school. In our elementary-there's just 15 girls in 3 classes for my youngest's grade-5 per class. The parent don't do play dates-none of the girls socialize. Part is because of the language barrier. It's changed so much here and I am sad for my children not having what I had growing up here. My youngest hasn't had the chance to have a friend live here longer than 2 years-they seem to rotate out of here quickly-I can only hope someday that a lifelong friendship will come along.
I have few friends here too anymore-and not for lack of trying-but because I was a SAHM til this past year and the majority of the Mom's I'd meet through schools worked and had little time to make friends. I have no people in my neighborhood close to my age-most are in their mid-50's or more. Neighbors here don't socialize either like they did when I was growing up here. I can remember neighborhood parties every summer. We tried getting one here two years ago-no one replied.
It does change-some for the better some for the worse. Someday I'll be changing too for a different lifestyle than we have here. It's too rushed and harried here anymore.
