Hello everyone. I've read the data on political affiliation- like what percentage of NY state voted Republican or Democrat- in the last election etc... I'm still a bit in the dark about the overall picture "UPSTATE"... I think I am pretty sure about NYC. My question is: What is the major political stance there in NY- not including NYC. It's not necessary to state how you feel personally. I don't want to cause any comotion. I'm just looking for the area's political temperature. Thanks all.

Quick answer: cities blue (Buf, Roc, Syr, Alb), everything in between quietly red.

^ Not entirely accurate. Ithaca Is very liberal. It even had a socialist mayor about 20 years ago. I think dems outnumber repub about 5 to 1 in the city.

Thanks a bundle. NY seems like a FINE place to be. Happy Fourth! I'm in Texas presently and it's frustrating for me and mine, in terms of political affiliation, as we are "quietly" democrat. Although, the other day, a big strapping cowboy got into his shiny chevy pick- up and much to our surprise his bumper sticker read, "TEXAS DEMOCRAT"! Yeehaw! Thanks again!

Entirely accurate. I said "quick" meaning I wasn't going to list every upstate city (I listed the 4 major). I said cities are blue. Ithaca is a city.

Sorry Muggy, didn't mean to offend. I'll read more carefully next time.

No. I said Ithaca is... wait... it's over? Oh, o.k.

Sorry, I know how fast your "street cred" can go on these boards!

Ithaca happens to be one of my favorite places on Earth. I spent a lot of time at The Haunt as a young musician.

We NY'ers have to stay together since the apparently the rest of the country prefers us to stay home!

Oh THE HAUNT! I haven't been there in a few years! Went to Elmira College and we always came up to go there! I had almost forgotten about the place till I read your post.
