We recently bought a home in Plattsburgh and I have found ridiculous amounts of these red and black ants. They have red bodies and black tails. When you step on one of their mounds they are everywhere in seconds, I have literally never seen so many before. They are destroying my yard, I'm not sure if they sting since I haven't stuck around long enough to find out but they appear pretty aggressive. Any suggestions as to what they are and the best way to get rid of them (without something that will hurt my dogs) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
