hello... me and my wife are thinking of moving from south fl
to salmanac NY cosst of living is a lot less but is there work and
is there winters that bad? and etc whats going on there anything?
Salamanca is actually located on an Indian reservation. The good... very scenic landscape, close to a very nice state park (Allegany) and nice ski resorts (Ellicottville). The bad... few jobs (biggest employer I would guess is the casino), oddly lacking in shopping options (grocery, department stores, hardware, etc.) even compared to the rest of the southern tier, little entertainment options outside of outdoor recreation and the casino.
If you're accustomed to Florida's climate, then winters are probably bad. It is towards the edge of the Lake Erie snow belt, so it gets a good share of snow (over 100", sometimes creeping towards 200"). I personally like the winters, but I'm in the minority.
