Some church references in areas not previously mentioned or too much on Long Island...
Port Washington: https://www.facebook.com/pages/categ...8879542508479/ (It is in a census block group that is/was 14.8% black and an overall median household income of $120,556($83,056 for black households, 2010-2014 info.)
Before adding some more church references from other parts of the NYC metro in NY not mentioned too much or at all in this thread, here is a book that offers historical information related to some of the places in this list in eastern Long Island: https://books.google.com/books?id=0Q...uthold&f=false
Maybe more later and this doesn't count multicultural churches with a nice mix of people in any of these counties. Again, this is for educational/informational purposes, as many not familiar may not realize this about many of these communities.
An individual reference that would fit this thread is this former CEO and Chairman of American Express that was born and raised in Mineola and attended the Waldorf School of Garden City, which would definitely be a potential option for said families. He is a current New Rochelle resident: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Chenault
Previously mentioned schools in this thread such as The Hackley School in Tarrytown, Rye Country Day and the Waldorf School of Garden City are also member schools of the program. Videos for many of these schools are also in the School (district) videos thread and this list would be great for families in the NYC area looking for independant private school options, in general.
A couple of school districts in Westchester County that have Black median household incomes well above the NYC metro figure, as well as a substantial percentage of Black residents.
In regards to the first school district, it appears that it is a suburban school district that has had a pretty high and middle class black population for a long time. For instance, the son of an All Star Brooklyn Dodger catcher was a graduate of Woodlands HS in that SD in 1966(Baseball buffs will know who I'm referring to right away): https://www.classmates.com/siteui/ye...124974?page=29
Known across the state for its good Boys Basketball program as well(Class B).
