I own a cabin in downsville but I live on Long Island. I want to venture up this coming weekend - can anybody give me a heads up on the conditions of the back roads or right of way roads near the Pepacton reserviour? I'm a little concerned about being able to make it up the road if the snow is too deep.

I would just call the guys who maintain the roads.

Most of the snow 2 weeks ago melted away and sundays weather was mostly rain.

I don't know the roads your thinking about or the type of vehicle but I would travel with a shovel and chains too be safe.

NOHRSC Interactive Snow Information is a good resource for the "Is there snow in X" question.

Thanks for the info! I've called the Cochester Highway Dept. but unfortunately they were only able to tell me about the main roads. The road leading to my cabin is a right of way road which isn't plowed by the town. I was hoping that maybe someone who lives in the area would be able to give me a heads up!. Again, thanks for your input - that site is great for the main roads.

Well then it's time to be creative

You could call
pizza or chinese restaurant and ask the delivery guy (if they have one in town)

post office if they use the road

or try this web search for neighbors and if the road is not listed check the people (your neighbors) near the intersection

Free People Search | WhitePages (http://www.whitepages.com/search/Replay?lower=21&search_id=40061361855450521938&sea rch_type=findneighbors - broken link)

Use any number you think might be on the street you choose. I have found a lot of people this way.

that's about all I have ..
