I hope someone out there can clarify the commute situation. I will be moving to the Watertown area this summer. I would like to live in one of the smaller communities, ideally Sackets Harbor. However, I've gotten conflicting information about the commute to Watertown in the winter. Some say it's easy, while others have said it's impossible. Any first hand advice?

From Sackets Harbor, you should be fine. Route 3 is usually pretty clear and plowed during the winter. You might like places like Glen Park, Brownville, Black River, Evans Mills or Adams/Adams Center too. Watertown's South Side has some nice neighborhoods off of Washington Street. There's some nice streets on the Eastern end of town off of State Street too.

Thanks for the advice! Someone else mentioned Black River and Evans Mills... I'll look into them also. I appreciate the info.

Nothing is impossible BUT remember from November thru April you can get Lake Effect snow and that can and will stop you dead in your tracks. Sometimes they shut down 81, it doesn't happen alot but it can happen.
