Am I the only one that cringes when I hear grown kids call their father, "Daddy"?

I don't really think, even if I had had a wonderful loving relationship with my father, I would have called him Daddy in my adult years.

Doesn't bother me in the least.
I wish my dad were still alive so I can call him anything affectionate...

Our kids called us Mom and Dad, then and now.

It doesn't bother me either...I wish I would have had that closeness with my dad when I was younger..or older for that matter..When he did send a card and on the event he called and left a message he never said DAD or this is dad...he said this is Bill....signed the card Bill..like a friend or someone distant...I hated that....

Oh that is a bit sad. I think being called Mom or Dad is endearing. I would not want to be on a first name basis with my sons.

Being called Daddy is sweet and it's a term of endearment. No different that a grown man being valley Bobby, Billy or Richie.

It doesn't bother me at all - it makes me smile.

I used to call my dad Daddy, but somewhere along the way - I think when I was a teenager - I started calling him Dad. Even now, occasionally, I will revert back and call him Daddy - not often but when I do, you should see the grin on his face!

He's 76. I cherish every moment him. That smile is not going to be in my life one of these days and I will yearn to call him Daddy just one more time.

My sister calls my dad "Daddy" and he melts every time she does. It's obvious that she does it for his benefit, not her own. Just putting that out there.

Edit: Kathryn just posted the same thing! Yeah, sometimes cute names are for the person on the receiving end.

My parents are called Mom and Dad. That's who they are, and always will be. That's how they talked to their parents too
