You are sounding pretty petty and obnoxious. Have you not contacted her in weeks either? If not, then it seems to be a mutual disengagement. I'd leave it alone....And, also, I'd not be dwelling on what if's....If you care for your friend, call her and go do something....that doesn't involve football, or a discussion of football....

Give it a minute....Mid day, Wed. work hours....She may need to get back to you. Again, if you haven't heard or contacted her in weeks, maybe she has a new friend to watch her team with ......Life is to short for non-essential quibbling....

The OP is asking if he's being PETTY about ending a friendship over football. I don't recall saying that everyone who watches football is a numbskull or anything to that effect. I said I DON'T understand it. And I don't understand the venom that surrounds it. Go ahead and love some football, if that's yer thing. I spend most of my money on art supplies. And sometimes tranquilizers after I spend too much time on the internet.
Art supplies? The horror! While children are starving all over the world? What frivolity! And the last time you bought art supplies had you "donated copious amounts of money to some communal pot, took everyone out for dinner, or gave to a worthwhile charity?"

Tell you what, I'm going to go ahead and block you (hey, football term!) so you don't have to be annoyed any more by my dislike of the splendid, wonderful, better-than-everything-in-the world football.

When Jordan's Bulls were winning all the championships? It brought the city together as one, strangers talking to strangers with a love and excitement shared by all.
Walking down the street, standing in line somewhere, newscasters all excited, the mayor wanting to set off sirens, the parade, people were together and had something in common. It was really great.

Every city wants to experience that because IT IS GREAT for everybody, not just the players. That is what they are PAID for!

Yes a lot of people get upset because they love their team and their city. Everybody who has a team they love, dreams of a championship that brings the city together in this way.

Never rub it in when a person's team loses.

She likes the eagles and I like the Cowboys and she is not up for talking when her team loses especially to my team. So her team was knocked out of the playoffs by my team, Dallas on dec 21st and she has not text me or called me at all since that time. Now my team is still playing and what I am wondering is if she is waiting for Dallas to lose and then call me the next day all of a sudden after not hearing from her in almost 3 weeks. And I believe if that happens I will have to end the friendship because I am sick of her being immature and can't talk like an adult when her team loses. I mean she turns 35 in 3 weeks and still acting like she is 13 which is really making me not want to talk to her anymore. I am upset when my team loses too but I don't shut the world out because they lost and not call anyone. So it would be a shame for our 15 year friendship to end because of her childish behavior.

I guess some would consider me childish too but not really because I can talk after a loss but she cries and blocks everyone out once the eagles lose and Im sick of it. And I know she has a live in boyfriend but that did not stop her from contacting in Mid december when her team was winning. And I guess I am really bothered by the fact that she didn;t call me or text me to say happy new year. So that's why if Dallas loses on Sunday and she calls suddenly on Monday, I will have to delete her number and move on. I thought about answering the phone and saying........."I have nothing to say to you" and hang up. But I think I will just ignore her and cut her out my life because I am not going into another football season next year with her and her childish behavior. So is this petty of me?
You know, I have a favorite team, too. The Auburn Tigers. Forces of goodness and light. Shining emblem of all that humanity should be. Blah blah blah blahbity blah. Meanwhile, our chief rival is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Embodiment of all that's evil in the world. If Sauron had a football team, Alabama would be it.

But, guess what? At the end of the day, it's a children's game. It's twenty-two pituitary gland cases running up and down a patch of grass to get a piece of inflated leather across a chalk line. If football were outlawed tomorrow our lives might be a little less fun for a while, but we'd deal. We might get more yard work done on crisp fall afternoons. As it stands, I'm done with the game after I read the Sunday morning paper.

Because 24/7 obsession with a team, any team, really speaks to some serious impoverishment in one's life. It means you're basing your happiness on something you can't control, for you don't call the plays or coach the players. And if football is leaching into the things that matter, your relationships most of all, then it's time to dial back on the football and give your life perspective. If you need a time-out from your friend, so be it. I mean, hey, my best friend is an Alabama fan. Yet we've managed to avoid the subject of the Auburn/Alabama rivalry in our lives. Because there are so many other cool things to talk about in life. When we win, I don't gloat to him. When Alabama wins, he returns the favor.

What's more, I pretty much suspect that you've fed this rivalry a good bit. I'm guessing that you've ragged on her in the past so she's just giving you payback. Maybe you need to, as an aside, not rise to her jibes. Simply say, "Yeah, you're right. We lost," and change the subject to something more interesting. And when her team calls, don't be ragging on her.

I let that slide. Lol
So my instincts are right. You pretty much kept this going over the years.
