I'm not religious. In fact, I'm a secular wedding officiant. In high demand.

There are secular celebrants / humanist celebrants that can officiate a funeral or celebration of life. Just like a wedding, we don't have to know the person/people we are celebrating. We can work with the family / couple to write out a script that reflects the life of the loved one / the life of the couple.

Of course, you don't even have to have a funeral. One of my friends had a picnic to celebrate his family member's life. They played frisbee and did some bird watching, and I had written a poem based on things I was reading that friends were writing on forums about the deceased. My friend read it at the picnic.

Of course not, and they prefer cash.

We had a Sh'va with a Rabbi in attendance for the minion (sp) at my father's funeral. I'll allow that we did play Bob Dylan and other records in my bedroom with my friends.

It was 1973 and I was nearing 16.
