Class of 1953-a reunion in 2013 would have been their 60th!
I have to wonder how old people can get and still travel to a family reunion? In 2004 an aunt (now in her 90s) traveled to a family reunion with oxygen in tow. She was, of course helped by family-something I wouldn't expect at a high school reunion.

Yeah ,, isnt that a trip! They were all still so sad to say their final goodbyes. Like I said these people stayed active without facebook ( obviously) over the years and lots of folks would come from all over .. This last one was just for an afternoon . I don't think most could take much more .
I am ashamed to say that mine ( 1981) since I posted yesterday or the day before, whatever, is turning into a very racially divided thing on our FB page . We weren't raised that way and it's a shame and most of us have known each other from kindergarten . On BOTH sides .One person even thought using the local Shriner's facility, offered to us FREE was "demonic" . Good GRIEF . I have better things to do than fly 2500 miles for that .
I didn't attend my five year HS anniversary. Not my thing at all.
My high school class didn't even have a 5 year reunion (we're coming up on 10 years but I doubt that this will be marked with an official reunion), but I am looking forward to attending my university reunions.

My 35-year high school reunion was this weekend. A friend asked me if I was going, but I lied and said that I would be out of town. Unlike those in the past, I am living in my hometown, so could have easily gone. High school days were not good for me. I was an acned, closeted gay teen in the highly homophobic early 80s who attempted suicide due to general misery and unhappiness. I missed my grad ceremony and prom. I don't have many good memories to dwell on. I've kept up with some on Fakebook, but mostly superficial. One of the organizers posted some "interviews" from the first night's mixer on FB. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of people considering that there were 600 in the class. I'd say 30-35 tops. Many of them were the "in crowd", some were the "band crowd". The in crowd took pictures at the hotel where they were staying at. I was surprised that turnout was so low. Pictures of the previous one (30th) seemed to be segregated by in crowd on one side of the room and the rest to talk among themselves. Maybe that's why there were more in-crowd types there this time around? I read an FB post of a homely girl classmate who I didn't know that thanked the hosts " that she looked up to when she was in high school" for making her feel like a "cool kid" that night. Just why did she feel like she should "look up to these kids?" The in-crowd had the luck of being born to rich parents, blessed with good looks or physicality, belonging to the right race, etc. Those are simply a matter of luck, in my opinion. It made me sad to read her comment. I thought that the girl simply had no pride in herself. Ironically, one of the in-crowd guys (tall, white, handsome) just got married to his husband recently which the in-crowd girls were Gaga about. He was very straight in high school and didn't come out until college.
I digress. Going to one of these events would take me back to too many painful memories. I'll leave it open, but I doubt that I'd want to go to any in the future.
