My guess they have lives that require their time, attention and energy. When they get a break and you get a break, you have contact. Otherwise, they're just busy.

Poster 1: ignores me and talks to other people.

I know that's really trivial but i've just noticed a few posters through the site that will ignore me back and forth and I can't work out what their game is. A common theme is for them to start up a conversation with me but to then ignore what I have said.
This happens to me the odd time in real life and I do not get it whatsoever. Why start a converstion with me if you are just going to ignore what I have to say?
Don't take it so personally - no one is messing with you or trying to wind you up - it's the nature of forums in GENERAL!
If what you're looking for is one to one contact with someone - chat with them or IM them - forums don't work like that. Or at least in my twenty plus years of experience with them.

Me, I sometimes forget I even posted stuff until I log on and get a rep notification. It's the internet. We may be 'connecting' on certain levels but at the end of the day WE ARE STRANGERS.
