We are in our 50's and 5 years ago bought our dream home with some lake frontage. There are a total of four homes in our little community. Two of the homeowners live out of state, so that leaves us and the other neighbor. He's an elderly gentleman, very territorial thinks he owns the entire road and area. With that being said, we still managed to get along with him until this past spring, his mooching felon son moved in with him and then a couple of months later hauled in a girlfriend and her pitbull. Our lives have been a living hell since this all happened. She thinks it's okay just to let her dog run and use our beautiful yard as a dog park...crap, pee, digging holes in my gardens. We had to put a fence up around my veggie garden and the darn dog still likes to **** his leg even on the fence! We've called the town, the dog catcher and no one seems to do anything about it. Animal control shows up, she says, "that's not my dog (despite my video of him digging and peeing). Animal control says, "Mam just please try to keep your dog under control." That's it. So one day while I was away, she opened up my gate to my veggie garden and let her dog in to pee all over my tomatoes etc., She then filmed me later going out in my garden to eat a cherry tomato and started laughing psychotically and posted this on social media. She also went to court to try and get a harrassment order slapped on my husband (he's never spoke with the woman) saying that he has been threatening her and that she's scared of him. The Judge didn't grant it to her, but we are still stuck having to hire an atty and going to court in the near future so that she can be heard.

I hate to move, but we can't live around crazy people either. Any thoughts on how to deal with these kind of nuts? The three other homes cannot stand these folks either. Has anyone else ever had this kind of crazy for a neighbor?

Counter sue. Maybe your neighbors will kick in some of the cost.

That is not going to happen. They live off welfare.

I hate to say it, but you've GOT to grit your teeth and befriend them somehow. Because these sick kinds of people will NEVER change (said from experience). Even if you decide to move, try to make inroads with them, because they could, if they wanted (through meanness), make selling impossible for you.

Leave a note in their mailbox, inviting them over (grit teeth) with the other neighbors for a friendly community happy hour. Clue the others in ahead of time, plan your strategy together. Maybe another neighbor can do the next round robin. It's the only way, other than moving. And start looking now for where you might want to move, because this could likely fail.

So sorry ...move.

Of course, you don't want to, you'll thank me later.

Oh jeesh...no hose! One part of her complaint was that my husband threatened to spray her and her dog with a hose with amonia.

High fences make good neighbours.
