Interesting how many people continue to say "daddy" after they switch "mommy" to "mom".

I stopped calling both my parents "mommy" or "daddy" at around four or five, and they have been mom and dad ever since. I am female.

My mother and her siblings called their father "pop" and "pops" and their mother "mom". They grew up in the 50's - 60's.

Ha ha, my kids know better than to attempt calling me by my first name. It shouldn't, but it makes me feel disrespected. N to the O! The day my kids start calling me M-- is the day I stop answering.

I never used these terms ever. My dad called himself daddy but even at like 4yo, I found this creepy.

More a southern thing I guess?

I do remember making my mom a checklist when I was a kid. Maybe 7 or 8.

It read: "What names do you like best. Please check boxes."
Options were:
- ma
- mum
- mummy
- mom
- mommy
- mother

She checked mom. And maybe mum.

Maybe mum, ma, and mummy more a New England thing?

A little data collecter in training!
It's amazing how an "only child" before Internet entertained herself!!
