I would distance myself from the former neighbor if I were you. That is, if you haven't already.


And regarding the friend who thought she was hated, I would invite her over, or invite her to lunch or something, and iron it out, and let her know with your actions as well as words, that you most certainly do appreciate her friendship.

If she is a real friend, she will talk to you about it, laugh it off with you, or ignore it all together.

As for the toxic person spreading lies, I'd keep my distance, which I'm sure you're doing.
