I called my parents and they offered no help. Mind you, I do not own any credit card and have zero credit facility, so it was a true situation of emergency. Hence, I called them on the night my landlord gave me her 'notice' and they offered no help whatsoever. Afterwards, they didn't call to check in at all, they only called a few weeks later because they needed something from me (of course). Bear in mind that I live in a foreign country! They couldn't help me out with 500$ yet the following weeks, they bragged about buying my brother a car and my sisters a Macbook.
Curious about something, because your choice of words leaves this a little vague ...
Did you actually askfor assistance, or just wait for them to offer? I'm curious because you stated twice that they "offered no help."
I suggested 'abuse' in my opening message. I'm talking about severe physical and emotional abuse, not the kind where your mother tells you you're 'fat'.
When there's abuse in a household, violence, you don't need to address the 'issue' with the perpetuators to discuss the matter, do you? You and they know what the problem is.
This makes me think you did not read my thread at all.
You mentioned 'abuse'. You said NOTHING about the abuse being physical. To me, that just sounded like common issues most people have with their parents growing up, but I appreciate the fact that, in trying to help you, I'm insulted. Thanks for that.
If you were physically abused, did you ever report it? You have two siblings at home - are they being abused as well?
Unless something changes, the parents hold the key to communicating with your siblings, so my original comments are still relevant. YOU have to weigh the choice.
