I definitely don't want to meet anyone from C-D especially some of the people in the relationship forum. I just talk and post my opinions but that's all. Meeting people online feels desperate and forced.

i post pretty regularly on this one local<edit> social media site and another regular poster invited me to an event. i have never met a person in real life who i met online. does this ever work out and people can become actual friends? or is meeting a real person different than an online persona?
In the MySpace days I made many new friends off that social network and into real life. I've even met two people from City-Data. Go for it and see what happens.
Given that this is the year 2017, lots of people have met up with other people they meet online. This is not unusual anymore. It wasn't unusual ten years ago.
I was on a few websites where we would get together and party, I also have met several CD people from the Maine forum but none from the Ohio forum.

Actually, I have two sons, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren who live in Ohio.
