This seems like a fun family, although I am eyerolling at the professional photographer on hand for the "spontaneous" proposal.

I am also always a little puzzled by the meme of dads wanting to keep their daughters all to themselves and out of the hands of other men.

Those don't look like professional photos. They probably just had a friend with a camera.

How could it have been spontaneous, if her dad knew about it in advance, and prepared a gag for it? I guess it was funny if you knew the dad's personality, but it doesn't seem funny, to me. And yeah, that's an odd meme. I thought it was more about the mother not wanting to lose her daughter, typically; being sad to have her leave the home hearth.

That's up there with the "dads with shotguns threatening their daughter's dates" jokes. It's insulting to both the young women and the young men.

Ick. The proposal should be a special moment between the two people in the couple, not a chance for Dad to prove how witty he is.

Clever prank, sounds like he previously approved of the groom to be abd and they play sports together. My question is: What will the father do at the wedding? With a probable open bar and his love of stuns like this. Hope he saves any stunt for after the I do's take place.
