What I mean is, I know I look way younger than I really am. I am 26 and have a babyface - I look between 16 and 21 depending on what I wear that day.

But, when I say I am 26, people have this "young and innocent" thing about me. Some examples (because of this thing people have about me) --
-- They think that I should not be drinking because it will corrupt me. Even when I say that I do (I really have) it's obvious they can't get their theory out of their head by their response.
-- They think I should not go to bars, and do other certain things that other people my age do just because of this thing they think about me.
-- They literally treat me like I am still in high school.

It gets quite annoying. How do I get people to stop thinking I should be this innocent person? Its not like I am just like everyone else. Yet they think differently just by how I look.

Perhaps it's not just because of how you look? Just a thought.

Perhaps you also behave younger than you are? Or are naive for your age?

What do you mean by "naive for your age"? So you assume if OP doesn't act a certain way, it equates to being naive? OP doesn't sound naive to me. Read the second paragraph. What does a person have to do to be considered "not naive"? Shoot heroin? Sleep around? Know all the criminals in their town?

I'm starting to realize that threads with a title starting "Why do people..." should just be skipped over.

The post is almost always referring to certain specific people in his or her life, but the poster creates a thread title worded as if whatever they are complaining about is a wide-ranging characteristic of most human beings.
