Some people I just don't understand, the ones with no real interests, they seem to function enough to find their way to work and back but theres no joy or great sorrow. You can talk to them, tell them a great story and you get a dead pan " Oh that sounds like fun " response. No fire in the eyes....nothing!
I have a friend who's just like that. He's like the teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Ben Stein). He would see see the most amazing thing in the world and he would just say in a low tone voice "wow". I call him Mr. Spock because he shows no emotions.

I find that so weird. I have a neighbor like that, hes so withdrawn he comes off as being rude but when I make it a point to walk over and say hi he will speak, hes worked for the same company for over 20 years so hes dependable but he has no friends and doesn't socialize. He went through a divorce a few years back and a few girlfriends since, don't ask me how...lol but I kinda feel sorry for him.
I don't know that some people are just "born depressed" BUT, I do believe that if you grow up with or grew up with a very depressive or even a parent with no or little personality then you will definitely take on those personality traits.
I know a person that has THE worst personality, she has no inflection in her voice, she reminds me of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh and she's just blah all the time. Don't ya know her kid has the same personality, very blah, doesn't really respond when you play with her, just very blah.
However, I know our enviroment makes a big difference.
Living in Michigan there was no sun, no nice people, jobs were gone and it wears on you day after day after day.
When I came to Michigan to visit it was like I hit a wall of clouds when I crossed the state line. Then a guy tried to run me off the highway cause I moved over into the fast lane to pass and moved back over. Apparently not fast enough. That is the most depressing state that I have ever been in by far.
When I visited my sister in Florida I was so happy there with the sun and the night life and people in good moods smiling and such. It really makes a difference.
