My husband contacted a company in NC about a job posted on Monster and it turns out it was a head hunter. They gave him a VERY attractive offer for a couple of positions in his field (civil engineer working as a project manager for construction company). Has anybody dealt with any of these companies? Are their offers usually accurate or do they inflate them? My husband thinks that they make the offer look more attractive to entice a prospective employee. And has anybody relocated to NC after finding a job this way?

I am glad to see you were offered a job as there has been a lot said that unless you already reside there - getting a job is difficult...there are other threads re head hunters and things, I would search those out - as head hunters play a lot of games to get peoples resumes and there are good ones, but I do not think it is an easy answer to answer.

Personnel staffing is a business, so it is in the best interest of the business to make the product as attractive as possible without committing fraud. Has anyone ever bought real estate or an automobile only to find out later the sales pitch was not quite as accurate as it should have been? You get the idea.

Yup-got it. I guess worse case scenario-if they tell him one thing and it ends up being another, he can just say no thank you.

Yes, he would want to confirm anything of concern with the actual employer instead of the middleman (Headhunter) before making a commitment.

The job my husband is currently involved a recruiter, he is VP and to some extent at that level you have no choice as thse jobs are not easy to find and not usually on monster - the head hunter actully did everything -
1-set up interview
2-after it, headhunter spoke to employer and gave feedback
3- The salary was range based on exp so we knew that
4-then another interview
5-when the actual offer was made the head hunter commicuated it but then an offical letter came from the employer

I imagine each job, employer, hh etc varies...

Thank you Weis. I figured they are hired by the company looking to hire, so there needs to be some integrity there. I just don't want to get my hopes up that he is going to receive some great offer and then find out it all smoke and mirrors.

there are also unknowns as to how many people they sent on these jobs and your qualifications compared to others, and MOST IMPORTANLY, the head hunter can get you the interview, you must sell yourself to land the job.
