I LIVE IN A 1700.SQ FT HOME WITH 3 SMALL AC WINDOW UNITS AND AN ABOVE GROUND POOL. I PAY CLOSE TO $700.TO FILL UP MY OIL TANK 4X PER YEAR TO HEAT MY HOME.

I pay $150 a month on the same type payment plan with Duke Energy, and that is year round. I have central air conditioning, no window units, and a heat pump. My home is the same size as yours

I just reread this - $700 dollars 4 times a year??? Plus the $258 a month?? Wow, I'd say definitely expect to see some savings when you move here!

We are in California and live in a 1500 square foot townhouse. We pay an average of $250-300 per month except in the hot summer months, the bill will be close to $500 per month when we run the a/c SOMETIMES. This summer we are saving money and not running the a/c at all...its tough when its 103 outside but we go swim or go to the movies at that point. Im tired of paying so much. One of the big reasons we are getting out of California.

In MI we paid $175.00/budget billing a month for electricity, and $40.00 a month for gas. House was 2,000 sq ft.

Here we are all electric, 1500 sq ft, this month our bill was $140.00. So even tho we downsized, we are still saving cause of no gas bill.

Oh, and Duke Energy has a calculator to let you figure your potential savings. Go to Energy Savings, then pick the state you are wanting to move to such as NC. Then under Energy Saving Tools, go to Energy Cost Comparison Calculator and follow the instructions. Liz

My house in Raleigh is just under 1500 sq ft. I have gas heat and central air.

My Gas bill fo June = $16.00 (Gas water Heater)

My Electric Bill for June = $118.00

I am not on any kind of payment plan. In the Winter My Gas Bills range from $115-$145 and electric around $55 (the electric seems high to me for winter months, but I have electric laundy dryer so that may be why it isn't lower)

Hope that helps!

I live in Greensboro in a 1200 sq. ft. house. We have central air and electric heat. Our bill last month was $86 and we run our air constantly. With the 90+ degree heat lately, we've kept the thermostat at around 72°.

We average around $150-170 in the winter, $65-75 in the spring and fall, and $85-120 in the summer.
