My husband and I are considering moving to the Seven Lakes area of NC. We currently live in Arizona (hot)... I would love to know more about the weather, including humidity).

We were talking about Seven Lakes this week. It's near Pinehurst, which is a great golfing area...Just like anything else, there is humidity, but your body can adjust. We purchased land in Mooresville NC, close to Lake Norman and Charlotte. Will move in 2009. Don't care for AZ to hot too...

I live 10 miles from 7 lakes. I actually live in West End, which is the delivery address of 7 lakes. Yes, in the the summer it is hot and humid. We've been in the 90's (or high 80's) for a while now. Humidity has been from 50% to 90% with afternoon showers-most of which are storms-of short duration.
7 lakes is in an area that has a 6 month moratorium on developements.
Food Lion is the only grocery store, few restaurants, a coffee shop, 2 banks, a Dollar General, and a Subway. Most 7 Lakers make the trip to Aberdeen/Southern Pines/Pinehurst for groceries, shopping, and restaurants.
That area is @15 miles away. 7 lakes has 7 lakes, boating, fishing and of course golf. They also have stables and tennis and lots of "transplants". And it is gated with its own private police force.
Anything else I can help with, feel free to ask.

7 Lakes pays Moore County taxes-I believe to be .40 per $100 assesed value. Heat/air runs @ $130 (averaged)per month. 7 Lakers do have fees for 7 lakes association. I think its about $800 per year to pay for maintenance, road work, police and fire.
Its an odd situation? They are gated, have their own police force, fire dept., etc. but are NOT a town. They have a West End address but there is no town of West End.

Moore County property tax rate is 0.4450.

Residents of these towns also pay an additional tax:

Aberdeen
Cameron
Carthage
Foxfire Villiage
Pinebluff
Pinehurst
Robbins
Southern Pines
Taylortown
Vass
Whispering Pines

There's also 17 special fire protection district taxes in the county.
