Favorite musician from North Carolina?? That is a difficult question.
I like to sing along with Randy Travis, William "Oliver" Swofford and the Everly Brothers, but there are so many musicians from N. C. that it would be almost impossible to pick just one.
Arthur Smith has done a lot for music and musicians in the Charlotte area. My husband said that one of his group, Tommy Faile, is his favorite. (Hope I spelled that right and I don't know where he was born.) I really like his "Brown Mountain Lights" song.
The best singer I have ever heard from North Carolina is a Christian music singer with the last name of Staley. Wish I could remember his first name.
Musicians in North Carolina are more numerous than the counties and we have 100 of those. The Scotch-Irish are just natural at entertaining and music is part of their heritage.
I'm a big fan of Bellafea. bellafea.com They are based in Chapel Hill, but used to be in Wilmington where I live. There's too many band in Wilmington to list, and most are pretty good.
