Well TW has a special for high speed internet, digital phone, and digital cable. For $118/mo for the first year. They also have a high speed and cable for $73/mo. It might be for new move ins (not sure about that).

AllTel Phone and Internet
Seems like Bellsouth isn't available in my area (28173), AllTell is the local telephone provider. They have a dish tv, long distance/local unlimited telephone (a real land line), and high speed internet (1.5mb down/384K up). They have this for $118/mo.
They have a basic phone line (local calling only) and high speed internet for $37/mo (which is pretty good). There are some setup fees with either plan.
So I think I'm going to do the basic phone line (for emergencies when power is out and local calling) and internet and get the direct-tv package which includes the NFL Sunday Ticket ($70/mo for first 4 months). Then you can drop down to the $50/mo service. The only bad part of Direct-Tv is that the do a credit check to get the initial setup fees waived. I hate giving out my SSN.
Hi, not to switch channels on you but has anyone tried vonage phone service, just wondering if it's any good, i need to lower my bill.
I use Lingo and have had no problems with it. It is basically the same thing as Vonage, just slightly cheaper. I chose Lingo over Vonage because they offered unlimited calling to Western Europe last year when I signed up, but now Vonage had added that too I think.
I signed up for a second account, and hooked the adapter up to the DSL at my inlaws home in Asia, so now it is also a local call between here and there too.
I have Vonage. It's fine as long as you know it's tied to your high speed internet line (hence why I wanted a local land line for emergencies)
It's my understanding that in North Carolina, your local telephone company is required to provide 911 emergency service to non-subscribers. So, even though you don't have regular telephone service, you should still be able to request police, fire & medical attention anyway. Just plug your telephone into the wall jack and dial 911.
Without a doubt Charter Communications, both cable and broadband is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their cable product is substandard and their service is even worse. Not only is it bad but this company is the first company I have ever run into that is actually hostile. I dismissed their cable service after three months of endless, rude service which never resolved any issues. I kept their broadband because it is the only one available to my knowledge in the Hickory area. After a year of Charter's broadband I give up. I have had them here many, many times and they never resolve the problem. I filed a report against Charter both with the FTC and the BBB. Since then I got a really nasty call from one of their reps. The broadband with Charter is so bad that I am closing my account this weekend and I will do without the internet in my home because of Charter's inability to correct technical problems and their hostile attitude.
I will be paying for WiFi which is a much more expensive method.
I have had DirectV for about three months now and I am more than satisfied with the performance and the attitude of their employees.
Don
Right now my DISHNETWORK is out. Will be for a few hours, everytime it storms, which it does often here, it goes out for a few hours. Also, I have to pay extra for our local channels....Not worth it, wish I would have gotten Direct TV.
