Same here. VERY hard rain or snow. Other wise, its fine. Your cell phone works in the rain right?

Yes, but a cell phone is not getting its signal from a satellite 22,300 miles above the equator.

Yes, satellite phones have been around for a long time, but not many average people use them as the airtime is very expensive compared to a cellular phone.

As low as $.17 a min. Not bad. I have found others for $.99 a min, incoming calls free! Depends on the plan/zone you go on/in. Found another: "Freedom 50" $50 per month, 75 min included, $.99 additional min. Same rates they were in 1991 when I got my first cell. Not really expensive.

Avoid Charter Cable and Broadband. Charter is the worst company I have ever dealt with for product or service. Charter people actually have a hostile attitude towards their customers.
I have had and continue to have good results with DirectV. I found DISH very disappointing because of the product, but good service, they did try. Without a doubt DirectV is the way to go!
