We know the feeling. Currently in Florida looking to go to NC. Alot of discussions and thinking went into our decision. Also family matters were the primary factor.
These City-Data pages for each state help. Also doing other internet research and of course visiting the areas you are thinking about going to. We were in the Raleigh area in May and loved it. But now we are thinking more about the Triad area and are planning a trip in October to check out the area.
Good luck. Just follow your heart or as my husband does, his gut instinct.
