I've heard there are unnamed backroads from Fayetteville into Sothern Pines, Pinehurst area. I think they run closer to the base? Anyway, I'm looking at either moving there from Fayetteville or just putting my little one in school over there, but it is a very long drive to do everyday. Does anyone know the backroads? I think on the main highways it is suppose to take near an hour but I heard there is a way to get there in approx. 30 min from Cliffdale road and Mcphearson Church?

45 minutes via hwy 211. But if you are military, you can cut through Ft. Bragg and be in Southern Pines in 30 minutes. Used to go that way until they gated the entrance/exits.

I have taken 690 (Vass rd) from Spring Lake into Vass to go to Woodlake. Although I am not sure if that helps you out much if you are going to Southern Pines. It sounds like you are thinking about the same thing that we are except we work in Fayetteville but don't want to continue to live in Fayetteville. The crime and the schools are the biggest reasons.
