Maybe I assimilated quickly and have a ton of friends because I get what I give...and I don't give attitude or harbor a secret "you should be grateful for me and others like me" attitude.
Think about it.
And hey-- there are a lot of New England towns who would also welcome my tourist dollars but balk at the Southern accent I have picked up. They would also treat me differently when I tell them I moved from the south. Don't act like this is a one way street.
