We are in the process of considering a reloction. My husband has a job that will transfer, so that's not a problem.

We have 3 children. My daughter is turnign 5 and will be starting kindergarten in the fall and my twin boys are 2 1/2.

We have a lot of friends who live in Raleigh and we've always loved it. Raleigh has always been our primary relocation goal. We've only been through Charlotte once, but for some reason we keep feeling the pull to go there. My best friend is in Charlotte once a week for work and has commented numerous times that she wishes they had relocated there instead of Raleigh because Charlotte is so beautiful.

Until all my kids are in school and I got back to work we'd hope to rent a reasonable house in the beginning because my husband would probably be around $70,000 a year. I know we could make that work in Raleigh..could we make that work in Charlotte?

I'm wondering if anyone has lived in both places, or has experience with both areas and could give me any advice, information or comparisons?

Thanks!

I would personally find out what it is that makes your "best friend" say that "numerous times". If you find out that you and her agree, there's your answer (the only problem then is that you would live in Charlotte and your best friend would be in Raleigh).

As for the comparison between the two, check out this thread.

I live in Florida and I have been comparing Charlotte and Raleigh. I am in my mid 20's, I am a nurse, and single. I am looking for a good place to relocate, looking for a good place for nursing opportunities and and college. Any opinions?
