This thread is for non-stop talk about current and upcoming forecasted North Carolina weather. Armchair meteorologists and professional meteorologists alike!

This morning, Charlotte reached a new record low of 45°, breaking the old record of 47° set back in 1985. Greensboro got down to 51, RDU down to 48, Winston-Salem down to 48, Asheville down 40, Rocky Mount down to 50, Boone down to 40, and Fayetteville down to 52. Several locations in western North Carolina reported temps in the 30s this morning.

It looks like the week will be dry, with warm daytime temperatures, and cool nighttime lows. September in North Carolina can be a wonderful time of the year!

It is a lovely, clear and cool day in Sneads Ferry. Blue skies and 64 degrees. I feel more alive in this kind of weather.

I've been out playing in the yard. It's 76 and sunny in Greensboro.

Some of you know I lived in the lowcountry for years. I really loved it. Then I moved back here and realized how much I love and missed fall color and smell. The dogwoods are just starting to get those berries.

I love how usually, like clock work, this weather shifts right after Labor Day. Wonderful!

NC really does not have "weather" except for the occasional snowfall which is gone in a day, severe Summer thunderstorms, and once in 60 year hurricanes like Hazel. Of course Coastal residents are well aware of the risk (it is in their house insurance premium).

The year-to-date temperature across global land and ocean surfaces was 1.51°F (0.84°C) above the 20th century average. This was the highest for January–August in the 1880–2015 record, surpassing the previous record set in 2010 by 0.18°F (0.10°C). However, temperatures in North Carolina and the Northeast were essentially normal throughout that period.

Only about 60 degrees at noon in the Triad. Parts of the state will not get out of the 60s today.

Walked the dog last night and actually felt some humidity (for the first time in a week) when the cloud cover was first moving in. The crisp days have been nice lately.

Feels like fall in the foothills.
