The Union City Goodyear plant will finally be closing this year, and my dad got told the Fayetteville plant needed 180 people so if he wanted to transfer he could, and he has decided he will until he retires. 5-9 more years. My mom is hoping to transfer to the Wal-Mart on Ramsey Street, so they're hoping to rent somewhere in that area. They're use to driving 20 minutes, but the closer to that area the better I'd say. I'm wanting to know what areas are safe to live in? They'll either be renting an apartment or a rental home. Thanks for any help.

That whole side of town is a great place to live. Anywhere along Ramsey/Country Club/Andrews Rd. would be fine.

You should not have problem finding a nice rental in that area. I was just over in that area showing houses today. I found a couple a nice older 2000 Sq ft house for 125K.

I'm also looking at places in Spring Lake. Is there any places there that they'd need to avoid living in or is it safe pretty much all over?

There are a couple of nice apartment complexes out along hwy 210 that are technically Spring Lake. There are some parts of Spring Lake I would not consider. It is pretty easy to figure out desirable areas if they come down for a visit. I would look up on-line reviews of any complex I was considering.

hmm kk. Is it loud since it's along the highway? Yea, I've looked up reviews on apartments in Spring Lake. Just wondered about safe areas for the rental houses.

They are big complexes set off the HWY. Noise would not be a problem.

For rental houses I would stick to something along Ramsey St. near the plant.

I just looked on the MLS and found 7 houses for rent that range from $1100 to $1650 a month.

Well they said their rent range would be between $650 to $900. I've found some rental houses in that range, mostly $800 and $850.

The lower you go the less safe you will be. $800 is a good range for a small house around 1500 Sq. Ft. in an OK neighborhood.

With that said My family and I spent a year in an apartment in Hope Mills that ran $650. It was clean, safe, basic and I would recommend it. We were waiting to find and then build our new home.

Yea, that's just the budget my mom gave me, I'd say she's giving me that estimate based off what they currently make in TN, but since cost of living is higher in Fayetteville surely the wages will be at-least a little higher. Yea 1500 sq. ft. is about what they currently have, but they'll really only need at-least a 2 bedroom, 1000 - 1100 sq.ft. More is just a bonus. Thanks for all the info.
