More than 1,100 Townsends Inc. employees will lose their jobs in the fall after the company announced Friday it will close its Mocksville and Siler City plants. Looks like even the chicken business is not protected.

Rumors are that the owner is in the midst of selling to the Koreans who purchased Allens.
