I've been looking since January and have only had a few telephone interviews and one in-person interview. What is going on? I've been told I'm overqualified but I have accepted I'll take a pay cut but I didn't think it would be this hard. Is it because I don't have a lot of contacts in the area or are jobs just hard to come by right now?

I applied for a number of jobs prior to moving here in January - still haven't heard back from a single one of them. Fortunately, I also had my resume on Monster.com and a recruiter found it and I started working 3 weeks after we got here.

We have been looking for 5 months now. Have interviewed 8 times now. Still waiting to hear back from one after a second interview and over a month wait. If this one doesn't work out we do not have anything in the pipe. I don't know what level of job you are looking for but high end jobs are not easy to come by.

My husband and I are both teachers.

We came down here for two teacher job fairs. My husband got hired in April, and I got hired in June. We moved down August 1st, so we had everything lined up before we moved.

my hubby has been looking for almost 9 months. he works in purchasing and we're looking on the coast which doesn't help but it's where we want to be. He's had 5 interviews (3 in person - one over qualified for, 2 flew him down for the interview but he was SO nervous and hadn't inteviewed in over 6 years that he blew 'em both). He's had 2 phone interviews and both times they went with a local person.

Hmm, I had a job which allowed for telecommuting once I moved here and my hubbie had a job already lined up so I thought we were fine. Unfortunately my position was terminated so I had a little severance to get me by but now it's been rough..financially and mentally. I'm experienced-over 10 years and have a great work ethic but I just can't seem to get my foot in the door. I applied to a job in May and I just heard from them 2 weeks ago-that seems like a really long time to get the ball rolling on a job vacancy.

Could be they hired someone and either they did not like it and chose to move on, or they hired someone on a probation period and the company didn't feel it was a good fit.
