For those who don't know, the North Carolina Governor's School (the first of its kind in the country) has had 100% of its funding cut. This is a summer residential high school program, and admission is highly competitive. Most GS graduates stay in NC for college and end up working and teaching here, some as Morehead Scholars and Teaching Fellows. Funding for GS is minimal, a drop in the bucket as compared to other enrichment programs (not saying others aren't just as great.)

Without private donations, the program will not survive (in what would be its 50th year.) If you attended Governor's School, or know someone whose life was impacted by the program, please take a moment to visit the North Carolina Governor's School Foundation
and please consider making a donation. I can't thank you enough.

Schools in HArnett could use a few donations as well.
Most Harnett County graduates stay in NC for college or work and end up being teachers, some as farmers. Funding for Harnett County is minimal since the state began cutting LARGE chunks of funding.

Please support the educational institution of your choice..

I went to Governor's School East for English. I know everyone's hurting, but one way to get some of the money is ahve the school boards from which the kids attend pay a portion. I understand that students already have had to come out of pocket some in the last few years. When I went, well over a decade ago, it was 100% free for attendees.
