duke is a lot bigger university than wake. 15,000 to 7600. I'll take Duke.
I don't understand what you're getting at. You said that Raleigh/the Triangle had the state's three premiere colleges/universities. Duke is obviously first, and UNC is second in NC. Third would be Wake Forest. I don't get the relevance of size here.
I know--weird, right? I've actually heard it from other people, but didn't give it much thought until I visited myself. For me, Charleston has a spooky vibe. Even in the artsy downtown area, I walked into a bookstore that had been recommended to me by a Charleston native, and it just felt "alien"--I can't think of any other way to describe it. The whole city "feels" like it's sitting on a deep, dark secret. Something I've never experienced in any other city on either coast or anywhere in between. Who knows why.
Not even New Orleans? Much creepier and sadder looking.
NC State is the 1st in NC. Largest research school, educates the most NC students, Wake is a tiny school that educates more out of state students than in.

No logical person would ever insist that NC State is the #1 premiere school in NC, and premiere status is not primarily predicated on size. By your logic (if we can call it that), UNC-Greensboro or UNC-Charlotte would rank ahead of Duke.
The way your mind works is just SO extremely interesting.

This is pretty typical when you understand the inferiority complex your average state grad carries around
You know state and Charlotte make a pretty good match hmmmmmmm
Mm
I think both Greensboro and Greenville, NC were both named for Nathaniel Greene. But I don't think that's the case for SC, though.
