Well by now most of us west of I-77 have brown grass, huh? Well, does this happen often here? The weather guys from Charlotte keep saying 80's are coming and a chance of rain but no matter the day, they seem to always forcast it on the last day of the 5 day forcast.
I was hoping 90's were few and far between. I don't know if this is "normal" here, but last year was my 1st year and it was not like this at all. Any predictions when this heat wave/drought will end? Does this usually mean a nice snowy winter and/or a pretty autumn season?

due to it very dry it will be a bad year for autumn color in leaves last year was AWESOME though.

Last drought was in 2002. I was out around 11 this morning and it felt perfect.

It can stay warm like this thur october least til middle. I remember halloweens that you needed to wear a overcoast over your costume and I remember halloweens that you wish you should have choosen that light toga outfit over that scary costume.. The weather seasons can be a trip here. 80's one day then 50's the next. It can be 75 at 8:00 a.m. and 45 at 3:30 p.m.

I cannot stand to shiver so this weather is perfect for me but I would love some rain or hurricane so Im not scraping bottom in my kayak or wading thru mud.

Hubby and I were watching the weather channel today and I started laughing because for the first time in our lives (ex-Michiganders here) we are wanting rain!

You will get used to the weather, even in January it can be 50 one day and 80 the next.

Weather is changing all over. In CA just a few days ago, about 16 people died from a state-wide heat wave. Today we're closing windows and putting on slippers. First people complained about the heat, then the chill. And it's dry as a tumbleweed. Here in San Diego, a years-long drought has turned our normal desert-like conditions into a total Sahara. I never felt sorry for plants before. They're dying in searing dry heat while we're asked to seriously conserve water because resources are barely keeping up with demand while future prospects for more water into the region (from the Colorado River) look bleak.

So--wherever you may be--if you've had ANY rain this year, go fall on your knees in thanks! (While you're there, please pray for the Southwest!)

Jan

Don't be spoiled by last year's Fall colors. Like Kayak said they were awesome. The first year we were here they were a disappointment due to lack of rain. this year, with the current drought should be extremely disappointing. Let's keep it just between us though, we need the tourist business.

It’s been raining a lot more in the mountains than the Charlotte area, maybe the fall colors will be good up there. It would be worth the drive either way.
