You've asked a very general question. The more info you can provide, the more helpful people can be.

What has attracted you to NC, specifically, since you don't have a particular city in mind?

Do you have work lined up (I'm guessing not, since you don't know what city you want)? If not, what field do you hope to work in, and have you researched the job prospects in your field in various places?

Do you want a big city, small city, town, country....? How much are you looking to spend on rent/mortgage?

It's hard to answer your question as asked.

Raleigh and Charlotte have lots going for them but all of the negatives with bigger cities as well. Wake Co. Schools (Raleigh) are kind of a mess at the moment with things going on the past couple of years but still good schools. As stated specifics would mak eit easier to help.

Seeing the mess that is CMS for my whole life and knowing plenty of people in Raleigh, I'd pick Raleigh over Charlotte for a good many reasons.
