siler city, pittsboro relo? (home, income, quality of life)

I'm a single, older woman looking to relo to an artsy, environmentally conscious small town to mid-sized city. I'd like to find a place that had a small business friendly downtown to open a hiqh quality handmade home dec or clothing store. I'm exploring everything and hope to solicit some opinions on the quality of life in this semi-rural part of NC

I've seen some intentional communities in the Siler City area and a green builder web site. Any opinions on the area? I've heard NC is conservative and I'm kind of liberal. What are the local viewpoints, business climate, etc.

Siler use to be perfect example of true North Carolina Southern town.

I would definitely visit both cities and see if the demographics will support your buisness.
