Hey,
I've been in NC for a few years now and Fayetteville is not my favorite place BUT it is home.

What's up with PWC. I somehow feel like they are dusting off our pockets with these outrageous bills. I am currently in Kuwait but my mother in law is there working all day. She washed maybe 1 load once a week and cooks every three days.

Even when I was home, I was barely home and still got these crazy bills. I'm talking between 100-200 a month. No kids, No baths (just showers), a dish washer and I never leave water running. I have to watch my P's & Q's when I even put the lamp on!
Ofcourse I've called PWC they always say these charges are correct.

Hmmmm...Does anyone feel the same about this?

It sounds like the Fayetteville Public Works Commission is going to raise their rates on October 1st.

Raise their rates?
Are you trying to give me a heart attack?

I believe this problem only exists in certain areas in NC. There are some areas that have very low bills also considering children and number of occupants.

I think something funny may be going on. I'm thinking somekind of leakage or underground pressure that we don't know about.

It would also be helpful to know how your charges compare with your neighbors too.

We live in Fayetteville but our electric is provided by South River Electric which is a co-op and the rates are not too bad. However, our water is provided by PWC and our bill seems pretty high compared to when I lived in Hoke County.

I live in Stanly county, NC, we have Duke power and they are very reasonable. We have been amazed at their rates...a nice change from CA electric water and power rates--yikes!!

I'm in a one bedroom apartment and even switched my light bulbs to LED and I'm pushing $230 a month the first couple months I was here it was $130 my a.c. in summer stays at 68 and heat stays at 68. So I don't understand the charges either. My tv and appliances are all energy savers. My other apartments I lived at in different cities under Duke energy my bills stayed between $80-$125

I’ve notice a steady increase in my electric bill starting in April @ 109.46 to Aug@202.84. I’m the only person living here. I’ve been in Fayetteville for a while now. I’ve raised three kids in a large home with two ac units running and ever light on in the home and my bill has never been this extreme. A PWC rep actually had the nerve to say it’s because the last week was so high and I my ac was on 74. Crazy, right. I need answers and I need them now. The lies companies tell to over charge a customer.
