Government should treat all citizens impartially, without regard to wealth, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, sex, political affiliation or national origin. We oppose all forms of invidious discrimination. Sexual orientation is not an appropriate category.
I'm assuming none of those morons bothered to look up the definition of "invidious" before coming up with this gem.
OMG. I just read the whole thing. How many times is religion, prayer and God mentioned? Is this a secular political party or a church?
I really can't say that there's much of anything in that platform that I can support.
I wonder how many gay Republicans actually read their own party's platform?
Ernest T Bass agrees with the NC GOP statement mentioned in the OPs post.
Well you see, Ernest T., here's why the statement is moronic (I'll type slowly so you can understand): The statement says they oppose all forms of discrimination. Simple enough, right? But then, in the very next sentence, they say it doesn't apply to discrimination based on sexual preference. So their first statement is a lie, isn't it?
That's really dumb. I mean, it's dumb enough to discriminate against anyone, but to write such a dumb sequence of sentences is like piling dumb on top of dumb. Can you see how dumb that is?
It's not just the NC GOP, it's the entire Republican Party that supports discrimination of anyone that's not white, male or protestant!
Or rich. I have to give it to the Republican party. They have a perfect base. They are a party of the super upper class. No taxes/regulation etc, but they don't really care either way about religion. So they bring in the religion rally call to increase their base. So now we have a larger, poorer segment of the population voting republican, because they agree on social issues, but the economic issues actually hurt the normal person. Really, good work.
The Democ. way, let's take from those who work to give to those who we can buy their vote.
