Andy Griffith dies at age 86. I wish my condolences to his wife and family.
Andy birth place in Mt. Airy and last lived in beautiful Manteo.
Andy did a great push for filming in North Carolina.
I had pleasure working with him as an extra on his show Matlock.

In NC, from my recollection, this show was broadcast on TV everyday during my youth in Wilmington...and I watched it just about everyday. It was and still is great TV.

Truly a sad day. Gov. Bev should order the flags at half staff. New Jersey did it for a drug addict.

Rather than post an obit, how about an interview.

I saw that he had passed a little while ago I just came to the NC to see if it had been posted. I grew up partly on Roanoke Island so I feel a connection to him. We even saw him out and about on the island sometimes. I remember when they filmed one the movies or shows on the island it was a huge deal to a little girl to see all the cameras and trucks with lights. He will be missed and I had a huge crush on him as little girl I thought he was so handsome.

It was a little weird Sheriff Doughtie said he was already laid to rest this morning when he spoke to reporters, but I'm guessing he misspoke and used the wrong phrase. Unless they quickly buried him at his house or something, which again, weird.

The 1st time I heard of Andy Griffith my parents went to see him in No Time for Sergeants. Shortly after that, the radio stations started playing a comedy routine about football. What it was was football was hysterically funny. I hope that someone pulls that out & plays it as a tribute to Andy.
