I’ve been going a little crazy trying to find out more info about something I saw when visiting Charlotte. We were driving around a lot in a new housing development about 20 mins from charlotte. We drove past this abandon huge brownish building, almost looked like a huge apartment building, and next to the building was this small colorful castle-type building. When I asked what that was the person I was with said it was owned by a family but was going to be torn down soon to make more new homes. I totally forgot what the name of the family was. So if anyone knows, I would love to find out more info about this place/family.

Sorry ahead of time if this place isn't located exactly as I say, it was my first time in the Carolinas.

It sounds like the former PTL Heritageland USA in Fort Mill, SC. It's just south of Charlotte.

Do a Googele search and you'll find plenty of pics. It's quite an interesting place.

I to was interested when i first saw it did some research on it. But I didn't hear it was being torn down. I acutally thought the housing by there was actually part of the property at one point. and that right now that was the only land that was sold.

That was really interesting, gave me a weird feeling though. I never knew that park existed and was so big.

Found this link with some good pics. We're considering a move to Ft. Mill, I hope we get there before they tear it all down. Anyone know the scehdule or if you can still poke around back there?

I went there with some NC church ladies for a church conference several years ago. (Mid 90s.) We didn't go anywhere on the property outside of the hotel and shops, so I never saw any of the other stuff while there. Other than the hotel that they never completed.
