I was curios as to how NC natives feel about the trend in Cubans from Miami slowly moving up to different parts of the state. Within the last 10 years I've noticed that many Cubans have purchased land or homes in the mountains or in the bigger cities in search for a "better" or more peaceful environment to live in. What is your opinion?
There is such a high number of people from Mexico here that the biggest problem is that the Cubans would have to put up with people assuming they are Mexican.
It seems like there is a great migration of Floridians (of all ethnic backgrounds) to North Carolina.

A cuban bakery would be great! I believe Durham has 1 or 2! I'm not sure why NC natives would care, however, while reading other threads on the topic of transplants/hispanics I've noticed some resentment towards these groups of people.

Most of the resentment towards Hispanics has to to with "illegal" immigrants. However, most Cubans I have known were legal immigrants under a political refugee status.

Some natives have always resented newcomers -- since the Civil War.
It's probably easier to settle in one of the bigger cities than the rural areas, though. That's been generally true for any new group of people in North Carolina.
