I thought but cannot find that a thread existed on this. Anyway, the OP was right. I need an inspection and am glad I didn't do it this week.

It's still not working right! I just had my vehicle inspected at a Jiffy Lube in Raleigh and it passed (print out for verification). I attempted to renew my registation online but can't. DANG NCDOT!!! I called Jiffy Lube back and they said it passed our inspection but it's the DOT's fault it's not showing in the system. Now I have to wait maybe a day for my info to post.

DANG NCDOT!!! I called Jiffy Lube back and they said it passed our inspection but it's the DOT's fault it's not showing in the system. Now I have to wait maybe a day for my info to post before I can renew.

FWIW - I had one of our cars inspected last week. The tech told me that the State was doing a system upgrade and that sometimes it was taking 24 hours for the updates to appear. The next day I successfully renewed on line.
New registration appeared in the mail two days later.

There was another glitch this weekend. Maybe the state isn't telling the whole story. I need to get mine done within two days.

I got a car inspected on Saturday morning (12/8) and renewed the registration online yesterday (Thurs) with no problems whatsoever. Maybe I got lucky?

As they say, patience is rewarded. A lot of people rush home and try right after inspection which usually works.

True... We have three vehicles due in Dec, so we usually wind up doing that on the last one every time.

Do you go by the sticker or the actual expiration on the 15th of the following month? One of my vehicles just went illegal I'm afraid.

Depends what you are referring:
Inspections are due the month of expiration- no grace period
Registrations are due the month of expiration, but you are allowed until the 15th of the following month to renew.
