I hear people saying lets keep the old buildings. Most could not be saved because many could not be brought up to code. Just because a building is old, does not make it useable.
You can find soul in Charlotte if you look for.
Not everybody wants to live in a big city, but in North Carolina more of our population is moving to our larger cities from
Wilmington to Asheville. We have some great cities in North Carolina other than Charlotte and the Triangle to live in.
Good news for both Raleigh and Charlotte, neither city made the list of the 50 most boring cities in America. Unfortunately, NC's # 3, 4 and 5 cities did make that list.

That is interesting. Perhaps "boring" may not be such a bad thing as long as you still have Barnes and Nobles, Starbucks, Wifi I would say that is interesting to me.
An A and A- respectively for the two cities; That's not bad at all.
I wonder if the hurdle of having to deal with the state government controlling so much land in DT Raleigh affects its score?
Raleigh is definitely intereting and as we always state I wonder how it would have fared with Durham. At any rate, there is still cause for concern seeing as how NC scored a C+.

I don't think that NC is alone in seeing their metros go in one direction and their states go in the other. It's not right but it's the current reality.
Here's another ranking of metros based on Small Business Vitality. This one tells a different story with Raleigh coming in 10th, Durham 37th and Charlotte 42nd.

It is true, I have family in Charlotte....my wife has also lived in Charlotte for over 10 years. There are plenty of people in Charlotte that thinks it is the "New Atlanta" or it's like NYC. PLEASE.....why can't your city have it's OWN identity?
