Lol i really had to stop what i was doing when i read this. Let me clock in on ya for a sec? 1ST OF ALL EVERY CITY IN NC has some importance to the state. Not just Raleigh because of it being the capital. With that being said its does not give them the right to take our money for there roads. As bad as u don't want to admit it Charlotte is the city of the carolinas. If i have a friend that want to have a boring life and raise a family then ill tell the to go to Raleigh. Even with our roads at max capacity people are still moving here faster then they are going to Raleigh. (if u need hard info let me kno) ill gladly send u a link.
And yes from my side of town i can use the train for everything i do. One of the reasons why i pay high rent in SouthEnd. The line is new and every line in USA didn't serve most of there populations but as they got older they did. But what does Raleigh has, a bus system that need a major rework to damn near everything and Amtrak. But what does it matter this is a silly comparison between Charlotte and Raleigh. There nowhere near alike, don't matter which way u try and spin it. The only thing we have in common is Sprawl and Charlotte is rectifying that problem as we speak. Denser development, BLE EXTENSION and street car currently etc...ect...ect but you've seen the pictures.

Census: Meck Co. second-fastest growing county in NC

http://www.wsoctv.com/news/news/loca...g-count/nfMLY/

The fastest-growing county in North Carolina, according to the Census Bureau, between July 1, 2012 and July 1, 2013, was Brunswick County, whose population rose 2.8 percent over the period.

Mecklenburg County was right behind it with a 2.4 percent population raise.

I'm from Los Angles that's traffic for you @ss on the 405 freeway. I'm all in for tolls but not at the expense of a city paying for other projects. Besides what world do you live in. I use the train and its packed everyday but I guess we just take the train to never ever land right?
Choloboy, I know this is off topic, but how long have you been in Charlotte?

Way off topic. 2 and a half years ago when I got out the Marine corps. Why does this matter? And before that I live in Raleigh Durham for 17 years prior. Anything else? Went to hillside high in Durham. You need my bday also? Baby sister was born in Charlotte and I remember Eastland mall back in the glory days. Very familiar with both areas

Charlotte and Raleigh are way more similar and I don't know how one's life would be that much more exciting living in Charlotte(I like Charlotte but don't see how I'm missing out on anything, other then having the NBA and NFL in your neighborhoods.

Bring it down a bit, no malice intended. The reason I asked is that I thought you mentioned that you had lived in L.A. at one time. If so, I am always curious as to what brings people from the west to the east. By the way, I too remember Eastland Mall when I lived in Charlotte.

No, it's very stupid, even if Charlotte were denser. It means nothing because 1) both are low-density sprawling cities with the same urban form and 2) the difference is negligible. Sure it's a fact that Raleigh is denser but it really doesn't mean anything in real life.

I'm not understanding this argument that LYNX "goes nowhere." What are you talking about? If that were the case, why in the world did it exceed initial ridership projections? And take a ride from South Blvd near Pineville all the way to Uptown and tell me that's "nowhere." And yes, it's already been a game-changer; are you unaware of the huge boom in TOD in South End and environs that's been going on for a few years now?

That must be a Durham thing; not so in Charlotte during weekdays at least. Furthermore, that's another benefit of transit; you don't have to get there early to avoid parking fees.

But it's not for everyone and one is no better than the other if that's your choice.
You are woefully misinformed about public transportation, acting as if you have to wait hours for a train that's only going 5 miles per hour. "Stuck on a train stop after stop"? Like stuck in a car light after light? Taking more time to find suitable parking, as opposed to getting off at your stop and walking a short distance to your destination? If it were feasible, I'd take a car-free lifestyle hands down over one where I have to drive everywhere all the time.

Lol its OK. Well when I moved to LA I ment my boyfriend who was in the navy stationed at San Diego. At the time he was getting out but I still had my full contact so we stayed. Being there I got used to the city life and the hussle and bussle lol. Moms wants us to moved to Raleigh but I'm like sorry mom Raleigh is to slow paced for we'll I'll take Charlotte. Besides it was the half way point between both out parents. Athens's GA him, Raleigh my mom.
