30 years is a long time... that seems quite possible for downtown Raleigh.

North Hills will never be anything like that though. There isn't enough room. Even if there were, it'll be a long time before Raleigh's big enough to support another CBD within its borders.

When Trump is at the ribbon cutting to open his new building, then I will believe.

Vantos don't feed the animals,please!

There is more room to build than most people think. Kane actually has negotiated first right of refusal for 65 additional acres. To the east along the beltline and St Albans Dr. All the way to Old Wake Forest Rd. That's larger than North Hills and North Hills East. Honestly I think that would take more than 30 years. But who knows.

Also I think Raleigh is big enough to support another major business district. Not the size of DT but pretty large. Honestly it doesn't matter what you or I think. Kane thinks so. I wouldn't bet against him.but only time will tell. He has some BIG plans for that area,so far he's been on the money. We'll see what happens.Charlotte vs. Raleigh?-image.jpg

Raleigh group proposes electric transit on elevated tracks :: WRAL.com

Looks like there are some bold plans in the works. We'll see what shakes out.

By the way there is already door to door shuttle service in place. 24 hours 7days a week. My guess is they are trying to judge demand. I would think when this round of development is built out. We might hear something. But that just a guess.

I honestly think Charlotte and Raleigh should invest in high speed rail to connect both Uptown Charlotte and Downtown Raleigh. That would be a game changer for both metros hell the state. To live in Raleigh or Charlotte and commute to either if it was true high depend rail. That would ramp up development in both districts. Why wait on a line from Charlotte to Raleigh to up north. I Know Atl and Clt are talking about a line now. That's why I say Charlotte be the gateway city to the south and Raleigh as the gateway city to the north. Just a dream I guess.

That rail system proposal sounds neat but why not build a people mover like the one in downtown Miami if you can come up with the money. Again this is cool but is another project that hurts DTR from reaching it's potential IMO

CATS’ Lynx Blue Line to run later on weekend
CATS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is adding more light rail routes on weekend after the public’s request.

Starting July 2, CATS will add an additional outbound trip on the Lynx Blue Line at 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.

"The additional trip will allow the LYNX schedule to better align with the bus service providing another alternative for passengers heading to and from Uptown for events, dining and other activities," says Rocky Paiano, General Manager Rail Operations.
